A question that many parents ask is when should I hire a tutor.
There are many different ways to approach this question depending
on your goals. If you would like your child to be extremely competitive,
then tutoring should become a common extracurricular activity
with your child once they enter high school or even in junior
high. Many parents understand the importance of their child rising
to the head of the class in order to be placed in the best classes,

Many parents use tutoring to fast track their child’s education.
If you would like your child to be ahead of the curve, many parents
use tutoring to prep them before hand on the year’s curriculum.
This can be beneficial in many classes such as math, English,
foreign languages, etc. Knowing much more than the average student
is an effective way to get to the top of the class. It will also
help your child not get bogged down by new concepts that a teacher
may zip through during class. This way your child is fully prepared
and is able to follow the class as it progresses throughout the
year already knowing the most important concepts.
A lot of times your child’s teacher may contact you to advise
you that your child may be having difficulty in a subject. Many
children do very well on many subjects; however, they may have
difficulty on one specific subject such as math, English or science.
Because many teachers have only limited resources available, they
may contact you to advise you that it may be helpful if your child
does get special tutoring on a subject.
Helping a child catch up via tutoring is a great way for your
child to build his or her self esteem and focus on specific difficulties
they might have on concepts that they don’t fully understand.
Usually tutors can figure out the concepts that your child doesn’t
understand and practice these concepts getting them over the barriers
in order to excel. Many children have lowered self esteem or feel
that they are not good if they fail a test or do poorly in a class.
By empowering your child and giving them the tools to succeed
and get high marks in class, they will feel better about themselves
and more confident in their studies. Tutoring is a great way to
give your child an edge, or help them get back to par. If you
are concerned about when to use a tutor, take a look at the above
tips.
