Parent Resource for TutoringIf you have a child or are an adult in college, there are times when normal school instruction is not enough for you or your child to reach their academic goals or potential. One of the best ways to maximize your child’s learning or to get an edge on a college subject is hiring a tutoring service. Here are some tips on why you should use the skills of a tutor.

Tutoring is a great way to get individualized instruction at a pace that you can set. Many schools are focused on teaching children as a whole and do not have either the time or resources to make sure that each child is 100% proficient in each subject. For children or adults many people hire a test preparation tutor that is able to assist you in those last minute studying. Tutoring is also a highly effective way to add focused instruction on specific problems or difficulties that your child may be experiencing.

Whether you are looking for math tutors, science tutors, English tutors, or perhaps learning a foreign language or a musical instrument, tutoring is an excellent investment in your child’s advancement. Tutoring is surprisingly affordable compared to many other options such as special schools and is an excellent way to avoid your child having to redo a course, take basic or fundamental courses or be put in a class with kids that are academically challenged.

Daily word for kids!

adversity - September 4, 2010
(noun) a state or condition that is contrary to one of well-being.

If you are wondering when the right time is for your child to use a tutor, here are a few helpful guidelines.

  • Many times children won’t tell their parents that they are struggling with a subject. If you received a report card or see that your child’s grades are poor in one subject, then that usually is a good sign that your child is having problems in a specific subject.
  • Many times children will excel in all of their subjects except one. This can be because they are having problems with the subject matter, their teacher may not be able to spend quality time with them individually or may not be proficient in teaching a specific subject or your child is not overly enthused about a specific subject.

A tutor for these situations is extremely beneficial. Tutors can focus on one subject and usually find out within a few sessions if your child is legitimately having difficulty with the course material or just wasn’t given enough attention and time to learn it properly. The tutor may find that the child is just not interested in the subject, a normal occurrence, and we can work on ways to make it more exciting and fascinating to the child.

If your child is a high school student or if you are a college student and need a way to break away from the pack and find an advantage to be at the top of your class, tutors are extremely effective at helping you overcome your obstacles and raise your grades in almost any subject. A classroom can be a very competitive environment and a tutor is a great way to help gain, cement and practice what is learned.
